SEGMENTS OF LAHORE ABOUT YEAR 1880
YES SIMPLICITY PERSONIFIED ALL AROUND
Very few casual scenes of Lahore are found. Not many photographers came to Lahore and not many sought subjects other than Nawabs and rich people. The man on the street was not a subject with people. Although some bazaar scenes are there as post cards and photos. Just a bunch of photos.
These are the kind of scenes one came across as one entered Lahore from any gate in Lahore, but the more particular gates were the Lahori (Lawari) Darwaza, Mochi (Morchi) Darwaza. and Delhi Darwaza. Even today some of the shops are remnants of the past. Enjoy!
Poor and rich lived together.
Arif Rahman Chughtai – are you related to Kudo family of lahore or do you know much about them?
Know nothing about Kudo family. Tell me!
Was it a joke!
Not at all. Didn’t know much about them hence asked you. What i gathered is that they were accomplished naqaash and were also involved in construction of Badshahi masjid and shahi qilla etc.. Don’t know the authenticity of the claim though..
I know the naqashs and mimars but I never know that they were called Kudo. Why? Obviously I belong to same family. The Badashahi Mosque was designed by Atta ullah Rushdi, Chief architect of Emperor Aurangzeb. I know so much that not possible to reply to you in a mere comment. Portions of Lahore Fort belong to caliber of Ustad Ahmad Mimar Lahori, Chief Architect of Shah Jahan. More later.
