THE SANA’A MOSQUE YEMEN FRAGMENTS 646 AD, 661 AD, or 671 AD

Allah’s promise that this text will remain intact

In 1972 renovation of the Great Mosque at Sana’a in Yemen, uncovered some Quranic manuscripts. Carbon dating revealed them to be of either 646 AD, 661 AD and definitely 671 AD. The Government of Germany appointed Gerd Puin on the restoration project, which was later picked up by his wife Elizabeth Puin. Elizabeth Puin made the startling remark teeming with bigotry:

“So many Muslims have this belief that everything between the two covers of the Qur’an is Allah’s unaltered word. They like to quote the textual work that shows that the Bible has a history and did not fall straight out of the sky, but until now the Qur’an has been out of this discussion. The only way to break through this wall is to prove that the Qur’an has a history too. The Sana’a fragments will help us accomplish this.”

The upper text is standard Quran, the lower erased text is slightly different at places. The restorer have enhanced the lower erased text to spotlight that might be the correct version of same. What a shame of analysis? Let us talk of our own life as students. We were instructed to copy texts from books and often made mistakes as students. Our teachers asked us to correct same and we used an ERASER RUBBER to erase and write anew. Meaning very simply that copied is wrong and it was erased. Or that we did not have access to the right writing. The best rejection of this is that the Upper writing is the standard text, the erased writing is not. What does it say? Simply wrong copying of not all of it, just a few notes here and there. Corrected there and then. What has the history of the Quran to do with with it?

A student writing an alphabet something jumbles words, make mistakes of sequences, and so on. The corrected version is over written. Are we to refer the corrected version or the ones written by mistake for some reasons. Such bigotry only the Western mind can conceive, after being humiliated about the text of their Bibles and their Torahs all the time.

In last 1400 years scholarship of the world has tried their best to prove the faults in the writing of the Quran. The story is simple. Allah has promised that this time the sacred text will remain intact till the day of the Eternity itself. For that reason Allah compiled the Quran in such a way that it could be easily learnt by heart. That is why we have Hafiz ul Qurans who learnt it by rote for its preservation. Hazrat Umar had sensed all this and made 500 Qaris Hafiz ul Qurans and sent them to separate corners of the world, and that has let the Quran remain intact to this day and forever. A slap on the face of bigotry of this so called false scholarship of the world.
